Online BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPR, AED and First Aid Training in Utah

With our online certification and training courses, you can get your ACLS, AED, BLS, CPR, First Aid, and PALS completed in a way that is convenient for you. We understand that working professionals may not have time to attend an in person training or certification program, but more employers require that they get their various certifications. If you work in the public sector, it is a very good idea to at least have CPR certification if not higher, and our courses offer materials that doctors who followed the American Heart Association’s 2015 guidelines created.

BLS, ACLS, and PALS, Online Certification Classes

The need for higher certifications is on the rise, and as more people start working in hospitals, schools, and with the public, a BLS (Basic Life Support) certification can be the thing that gets you hired over your competitors. BLS certification combines AED and CPR right in with their other training, and many people are opting to have this potentially life-saving certification. If you’re a nurse, doctor, police officer, or firefighter, you may be required to have ACLS certification because more advanced life-saving techniques will be useful in an emergency situation. If you find yourself working with small children and pediatrics, you should check into PALS certification.

We want to encourage working professionals to get certified and trained, and this is why we offer online courses with the course materials included in one convenient package. We provide course materials for BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications are taken directly from the American Heart Association’s most recent guidelines. You can choose how many classes and certifications you wish to take, and once you’ve made up your mind, you enroll and pay the fee. You’ll instantly have access to the study materials from any internet-ready device. You can take the exam when you feel you’re ready, and you can set a pace that is convenient for you.

Online AED, CPR, and First Aid Certification and Training

If someone suffers a heart attack or a cardiac event, the chances of them surviving without immediate assistance are just 10%, and just over 45% of everyone who experiences a cardiac episode gets CPR from a bystander. The more people who are around that know CPR or that are familiar with how to use an AED, the better chances the person has of survival. If you work with a lot of individuals, or if you work in a more dangerous environment, being CPR/AED certified is critical. It could mean the difference between someone surviving a cardiac episode and someone dying.

Information About Utah

Utah became a state on January 4th, 1986 and it is the 45th state. As of 2013, Utah had a population of almost 3 million people, and this makes it the 33rd most populous state. This state is known as the Beehive state, and  Utah means people of the mountains. It is the 13th largest state with just under 85,000 square miles.

Utah Health Problems

Utah has a few health problems, mainly high blood pressure, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. These health problems can lead to more severe complications like a stroke or heart attack, and this is where having certification in ACLS or BLS could be life-saving. Almost 20% of the population does not engage in any physical activity during their leisure time, nor do they eat the required amounts of fruits and vegetables per day. Each of these things can contribute to the main three help problems that are rising in Utah. In 2012 alone, over 3,300 people died from a cardiovascular incident, and this number is projected to go up.

Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is the largest city in Utah with just over 193,000 residents as of 2016. This city is also the capital of Utah, and it is a popular tourist destination for its outdoor recreational activities like skiing. There is a huge music scene with outdoor concerts, parks, and festivals. With all of these people converging into one place, having a CPR certification class could be a very smart thing to have just in case something happened.

Despite the fact that Salt Lake City has some of the best outdoor recreational activities available, obesity is a large health concern. Salt Lake City’s obesity rate is slightly lower than the national average, but in just 15 years from 2000 to 2015 it jumped from 19.5% to 25%. Obesity goes hand in hand with heart issues and high blood pressure. People who are obese have as much as a 50% increased risk for coronary heart disease. If you go through our ACLS class, you might be the person who knows how to help someone who has suffered a heart-related issue.

West Valley City

This city was originally home to the Shoshoni and Ute tribes, and in 1849, it settlers moved into the area. As of 2010, West Valley City is the second largest city in Utah with just over 129,000 people. In 2011, the city planned to redesign and make a downtown area for West Valley. This city is a popular destination for sports fans with the Maverik Center, which can seat 12,000 people. It is a popular destination for live productions and concert events.

West Valley City has high levels of pollutants in the air like ozone and particle matter. These two things can worsen the symptoms of asthma and COPD. It can also make people more hesitant to go outside and exercise, and this can be a contributing factor of Utah’s obesity rate rising. Crime also plagues the city; it currently has a violent crime rate of 1 in 178 people. This puts West Valley City 1.82% above the national average for violent crime. If you come across someone who has suffered a violent crime, knowing the more advanced life-saving methods like an ACLS class could save them until further help arrives.

Provo

Provo has just over 115,000 residents, and it is the third largest city in Utah. It got its name from a French explorer named Etienne Provost, and it is home to Brigham Young University. This University is currently the largest church-affiliated University in the nation. It is also home to the largest independence day festival in the country, America’s Freedom Festival.

Provo has two main health concerns, and they are heart disease and arthritis. Cardiovascular disease can lead back to the lower fitness rate, and if you have arthritis, it makes it harder or more painful to move in general. The chances of someone surviving a heart-related issue outside of a hospital is just 6%, and if someone is around that knows advanced cardiac life support techniques or has taken a BLS class, the chances will increase. As it is, the chances of surviving a heart-related incident in a hospital are just under 25%.

West Jordan

As of the 2015 census, West Jordan came in as the fourth largest city in Utah with around 112,000 people. It became a city in 1848, and it has experienced one of the most rapid growths of any city in the United States to date. Four major retail centers currently call West Jordan home, with the largest mixed-use retail center in the United States is here, and it is known as Jordan Landing. Over 80,000 people stream through this shopping center each week, and this makes the chances of someone needing medical attention go up. If you have had a CPR certification class, you might be able to help someone.

West Jordan’s primary concern is the toxicity left by the mines and the skyrocketing cancer rates. To date, it is the second leading cause of death in this city, right behind heart disease. The higher than average levels of lead in the soil and the water contributes to these cancer rates. Miners dropped these lead and arsenic tainted rocks in the streams in the mid-1970s, and the levels aren’t high enough to have them removed.

Orem

The fifth largest city in Utah is Orem with a population of 94,457 people. This city has a variety of outdoor activities to do year rounds like ice skating, skiing, hiking trails, skate parks, and music events. If you volunteer as a staff member for one of these events, you may be asked to be certified in CPR, BLS, or have an ACLS certification if something happens and assistance is needed until EMS arrives.

Obesity plays a large role in the health problems of Orem’s population. Currently, 35% of this city’s residents are obese, with 46% of people reporting they were once obese, and 37% have tried to lose weight. Reports showed that 16% of the population has hypertension in some range. This hypertension combined with the obesity levels puts them at a higher risk for a heart-related issue.
