FLORIDA CPR AED CERTIFICATION ONLINE TRAINING INFORMATION

Nationwide health training is an online provider for CPR, AED, and First Aid certification, as well as, medical courses such as ACLS, BLS & PALS. We offer an online-only option for Florida residents that would like to complete the course entirely from home or the office. Our training program is available 24/7 and does not require an in-person skills class. All course material and exams were developed by our physician using the most current medical guidelines. Our materials are reviewed and updated periodically to ensure compliance with the most up-to-date information. If there is an update prior to your renewal date, you are not required to renew early, however, we recommend that you stay informed of new techniques or protocol.

CPR/AED & FIRST AID CERTIFICATION AND RECERTIFICATION

More and more employers in Florida are requiring that their employees take a CPR course or have their CPR/AED First Aid certification. Why? Because CPR is an easy-to-learn technique that, saves 92,000 lives a year. CPR & First Aid training is beneficial for anyone working in dangerous work environments, with kids or the elderly, areas with high air pollution or emergency response situations. Additionally, many cities in Florida including Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami, are popular beach destinations and because of the high rate of accidental drownings, many employers require their employees to be trained or attend a CPR class.

To encourage working professionals, as well as, other Florida residents to earn their CPR/AED and First Aid certification, we have created a simple, convenient program that can be completed from any internet-ready device. Once you are ready to enroll, choose the course that you are interested in completing. We offer package discounts for those who would like to enroll in the CPR & First Aid training course. The classes do not have to be completed together to receive the discount. You will receive a link to the training materials and are welcome to take the time necessary to study them prior to beginning the exam. Only start the exam once you have an understanding of the materials. The exam is not timed, but does need to be completed in one sitting. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, you may print out a copy of your CPR card. Your hard copy will arrive to you within 3-5 business days.

FLORIDA ACLS, PALS & BLS CERTIFICATION TRAINING COURSES

Our comprehensive online ACLS, PALS or BLS certification and recertification is ideal for medical professionals that would like to complete their training completely online without the need for an in-person class. Enrollees can choose to complete one, two or all three courses depending on the requirement of their employment. We offer a special package discount for those needing two or more certifications. If it’s time to recertify your ACLS certification, we have you covered! Simply select the recertification option for the course that you would like to complete. There is no time limit on the course or exam so you can complete your training at a pace that works for your schedule. Most people are able to complete the exam portion of the course within 2 hours depending on the individual’s preparedness.

ABOUT FLORIDA

Florida, also known as Sunshine State, was admitted to United States on March 3, 1845 as the 27^th state. It is situated in the southeastern region of the US and is the 22^nd most extensive and 8^th most densely populated state in the nation. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Florida in 2015 was 20.27 million which was a 2.2% increase over 2014. Florida is named after the Spanish word Pascua Florida, which means ‘feast of flowers’. The state’s economy is dependent on agriculture, tourism, manufacturing of electrical equipment, transportation equipment, food processing and machinery. The main agricultural products are oranges, grapefruit and other citrus fruits. Florida is known for its year round subtropical/tropical climate and beautiful beaches which attracts the likes of both tourists and locals. In 2015 and 2016, Florida broke state records with an estimated visitor count of 105 million and 112.8 million respectively. The capital of Florida is Tallahassee. Tallahassee is located in Northern Florida, west of Jacksonville.

FLORIDA HEALTH INFORMATION

Although heart disease and cancer are still the leading cause of death in adults, Florida has the highest rate of accidental drowning deaths in children ages 1-4 in the nation. In 2012, there were 440 reported drowning amongst Florida residents, 57 of the deaths were children ages 1-4. In addition, another 147 children ages 1-4 were hospitalized for non-fatal drownings. It is important to ALWAYS supervise young children in pools, oceans and even bathtubs. CPR protocol for infants is different than for older children or adults, so it’s important to be knowledgeable on the different techniques and scenarios.

JACKSONVILLE

Jacksonville is the most populous Florida city with an estimated population of 913, 010 residents as of 2017. The city is located in North Florida and is 340 north of Miami. It is the largest city, in terms of size, in the continental US. Jacksonville was named after the seventh US President, Andrew Jackson, who was also the Governor of the Florida territory at one point. Jacksonville is home to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars were established in 1993 and played their first game in 1995. They have won two division championships.

The air quality in Jacksonville is slightly higher than the US average, but lower than the Florida average. The risks of getting cancers or other respiratory illness due to the air quality is about 5-10 points higher than the Florida average. The US average is lower than the overall Florida average. Children and elderly people who suffer from respiratory issues should take precautionary measures on days when the ozone is at unhealthy levels. On a positive note, Jacksonville ranks higher than the US average for the amount of physicians per capita.

MIAMI

The city of Miami is estimate to have a population of 441,000 while the Miami-Dade County is estimated to have nearly 2.7 million residents. Miami is a leader in entertainment, arts and culture and ranked seventh in the US for sectors such as commerce, finance and education. Additionally, tourism in Miami is important to the economy. Tourist come from all over the world to visit Miami’s beautiful beaches. Miami is home to the two-time Super Bowl champions, the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins play out of the Hard Rock Stadium.

Forbes magazine once nominated Miami as “America’s Cleanest City” based on its air quality, clean streets and clean drinking water. The air quality in Miami is currently lower than the Florida and US average. The risks of getting cancer and other respiratory illnesses are higher in Miami than other parts of Florida. Miami unfortunately has an extremely high crime rate. On a scale of 1-100, Miami has an index of 90.8, the average in the US is 31.1.

TAMPA

Tampa is the third most populous city in Florida and is a part of the Hillsborough County. In 2015, there was an estimated population of 369,275 residents. Tampa is home to three major sports teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa’s economy is fueled by healthcare, retail, finance, tourism, sports and real estate.

The US News and World Report ranked three hospitals in the Tampa area on their list of “America’s Best Hospitals”.  Healthcare is a large part of Tampa’s economy with 20 area hospitals and multiple health research, trauma and Cancer treatment centers. The leading cause of death in the Hillsborough County is heart disease and the second is cancer. Eating a healthy diet, exercising and not smoking is three of the best things that you can do to avoid heart disease. Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of sudden cardiac arrest in adults. CPR knowledge can greatly increase the chances of survival in someone suffering from sudden cardiac arrest.

ORLANDO

Orlando is located in central Florida and had an estimated population of 262,372 in 2014, making it the fourth most populous city in Florida. Orlando is a huge tourist destination with an estimated 62 million visitors in 2014. Some of the main attractions are Walt Disney World and Universal studios. Disney World Orlando averages 52,000 visitors a day making it the number one theme park in the world. Although the park doesn’t require it for every position, they recommend that their potential candidates be trained in CPR and First Aid.

Orlando has two hospital systems, Orlando Health and Florida Hospital. Florida Hospital has one of the leading cardiac facilities in the country. The cardiovascular Institute sees 70,000 cardiac patients annually and is the only hospital in South Florida that performs heart transplants. The institute treats more patients with cardiovascular disease than any other hospital in the nation.

ST. PETERSBURG

St. Petersburg is in the Tampa Bay area and is a part of the Pinellas County. As of 2015, there were 257, 083 residents in the city. The climate in St. Petersburg is humid subtropical with an annual average of 361 days of days of sunshine, earning the nickname “The Sunshine City”.

The economy in St. Petersburg is fueled by Healthcare, retail trade and hospitality.

The air quality in St. Petersburg received a quality score of 68/100, which is higher than the Florida and US average. The risk of getting cancer or other respiratory diseases, due to the air quality, is lower than both the Florida and the US average. The Heart Institute has three locations in St. Petersburg. The Heart Institute’s cardiology unit covers all aspects of cardiovascular medicine and health. The institute employees 21 cardiologists and is one of the largest cardiology groups in the area. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the nation, being pro-active and understanding the risks of cardiovascular disease could save a life.

FLORIDA CPR HEROES

October 06, 2015 – Central Florida teenager, Elinor Courson, made news for saving a man’s life while out to dinner with her family. Courson was eating with her parents when they noticed an older man having medical issues. They rushed over and the man was non-responsive. The man was moved to the floor and as her father called 911, Courson began administering hands-only CPR. Elinor had learned CPR two years’ prior while attending summer camp. By the time the paramedics arrived the man had started to move a little. The man survived the episode. Corson’s parents could not be more proud of their daughter.

January 31, 2017 – A Key West nurse, Amy Smythe, had just finished a half-marathon when she saw a man collapse. Although she was exhausted, her nurse instincts kicked in and she ran over to start administering CPR. She kept with it until emergency responders took him away. A few weeks later a friend directed Smythe to check out the half marathon’s Facebook post where the man had posted a message asking for help locating her. Bill Amirault wanted to personally thank her for saving his life. He explained that without her quick thinking, there’s a chance that he wouldn’t have survived and if he did, he may have had permanent brain damage. The marathon coordinators now encourage all attendees to learn CPR.
