NORTH CAROLINA ONLINE CPR AED CERTIFICATION CLASSES

Our online certification courses are offered to workplace employees and healthcare providers that are required to be certified for employment. We also encourage all North Carolina community members to enroll in our CPR/AED and First Aid classes to learn empowering life-saving techniques to use during emergencies. Each course has been reviewed and updated to reflect 2015 AHA guideline updates.

NORTH CAROLINA CPR AED CERTIFICATION & FIRST AID CLASSES

In our standard CPR/AED course, you will learn the proper technique to perform CPR on infants, children and adults and how to use an automated external defibrillator. Our courses are based on AHA guidelines and are OSHA compliant. This class can be completed entirely online. Students are generally able to complete the course within a few hours, however, there are no time restrictions with any of our courses or exams.

To begin your CPR/AED course, simply register for the correct class and complete your transaction. Upon payment confirmation, your course materials will be available for your review. We encourage students to take as much time as they need to review and understand the materials that are taught in the course. Once you complete the study materials, you may begin your exam. A passing score is required to earn your CPR/AED certification card. Upon successful completion of the exam, your digital CPR card will be emailed to you. If you enrolled in the CPR + First Aid class, you may begin the First Aid portion. CPR/AED and First Aid certification cards are valid for two years in North Carolina.

High school students in North Carolina are required to learn CPR and First Aid as a part of their graduation requirements. The bill went into effect the 2014-2015 school year. The CPR course is incorporated into their health program and includes a hands on training. The North Carolina bill does not require the teachers of the CPR class to be certified.

PALS, ACLS BLS CERTIFICATION IN NORTH CAROLINA

Our ACLS & PALS courses are offered to advanced healthcare providers who care for patients that are suffering from life threatening cardiac emergencies such as cardiac arrest or stroke. Many hospitals in North Carolina require ACLS and PALS certification for their Level I trauma providers. This online ACLS & PALS course includes current 2015 materials which follow AHA guidelines. All certification courses were created by physicians with first-hand experience with ACLS procedures and techniques. Our courses are periodically reviewed for accuracy and updated every five years with AHA and ECC guidelines. ALCS, PALS and BLS courses are generally required to be renewed every two years. In addition to our ACLS & PALS certification course, we also offer a ACLS and PALS renewal course.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA

North Carolina, nicknamed the “Old North State” was the 12^th state to join the union. As of 2015 it is the ninth most populous state with 10.04 million residents. Raleigh is the state’s capital while Charlotte is the most populous city. In the past few decades North Carolina has seen a rapid economic growth in its larger cities such as Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, but smaller manufacturing towns have suffered from job loss due to competition from overseas. Agriculture remains one of the most important aspect of the state’s economy and in recent years has a seen a demand for local and organic products. Tobacco was one of the state’s earliest source of revenue and North Carolina still leads the nation in production.

In 2015, North Carolina was ranked 31 out of 50 by America’s Health Rankings in terms of overall health. This was a drastic improvement over the prior year’s ranking of 37. The data collected for this study found that the state had a large disparity of health status by education level, high infant mortality rate and low per capita public health funding. The good news was that the state has a low prevalence of excessive drinking, high immunization coverage in children and high HPV immunization among adolescent females.

CHARLOTTE

Charlotte is the most populous city in North Carolina with an estimated population of 809,958 and is the one of the fastest growing major cities in the nation. Charlotte is a part of the Mecklenburg County and the Charlotte Metropolitan area. Charlotte was once the second-largest banking center in the nation, but as of 2017 has fallen to third-largest after San Francisco. Charlotte is home to the NFL’s Charlotte Panthers and the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.

A rankings report done by U.S. News and World Report rated Charlotte #14 for Best Places to Live in the United States. The report gave the city an overall score of 7.1 out of 10. The ranking is scored on desirability, value, job market, quality of life and net migration. The violent crime rate in Charlotte is higher than in other metro cities like Salt Lake City, Pittsburg and Portland, however, it is lower than the national average.

The highest ranking hospitals in the Charlotte area are Carolinas Medical Center, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Caromont Regional Medical Center. Carolinas Medical Center is ranked fourth in the state and ranks nationally in one adult specialty (ear, nose and throat) and 6 children specialties (pediatric cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, gastroenterology & GI surgery, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery and orthopedics. Carolinas is the flagship hospital of the Carolina Healthcare system. The system which has an estimated 60,000 employees is the largest employer in Charlotte.

RALEIGH

Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina and the county seat of Wake County. In 2015, the estimated population was 451,066 making it the second most populous city in the state. Raleigh is home to the Research Triangle Park, one of the largest researching parks in the world which houses health and technology companies from across the nation. CNN Money ranked Raleigh as the #1 best city for jobs (in 2015) noting the number of job opening per population, the number of fortune 500 companies with offices in the area and the low cost of housing. The Raleigh and Durham area was also ranked #14 for Best Places to Live by U.S. News and World Report. The property and violent crime rate is slightly higher than the state and national average, but Raleigh’s rate is much lower than the rest of the metropolitan area.

In the 2016 American Lung Association State of the Air report Raleigh was ranked 142^ndfor most polluted cities in the nation. Wake County scored a “D” for high ozone pollution days, which was actually an improvement over the previous year’s “F” grade. High ozone pollution can cause major health problems such as respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous system issues. The County has a “B” grade for particle pollution, which is only slightly lower than the state’s “A” average.

*In 2017’s “State of the Air” report, the Wake County moved up to a “B” grade for High Ozone Pollution and maintained their “B” grade for Particle Pollution.

GREENSBORO

Greensboro, formerly Greensborough, is the third most populous city in North Carolina and the largest in Guilford County. The city has an estimated population of 285,342 (2015). Greensboro’s economy is based around tobacco, textiles and furniture. The largest employers in the area are Guilford County Public Schools, Cone Health and the City of Greensboro.

The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospitals is ranked fifth in North Carolina for Best Regional Hospitals and was rated “High Performing” in 9 adult procedures and conditions. Amongst the “high performing” procedures were COPD, colon and lung cancer surgery, hip & knee replacement and heart failure. In 2016, the Cone Memorial was awarded the Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award: Stroke Honor Role Elite Plus by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The award was earned through the hospital’s commitment to stroke care and by achieving specific quality measures for stroke patients. It is crucial for all healthcare provider who work with stroke victims to be confident with the ACLS suspected stoke algorithm,

The hospital employs an estimated 1,101 doctors and 1,779 nurses. Cone Memorial is a part of the Cone Health healthcare delivery system that includes three other hospitals in the Greensboro area; Wesley Long Hospital, Women’s Hospital and Cone Health Behavioral Health Hospital. The entire Cone Health system employs an estimated 10,650 employees.

DURHAM

Durham is north of Raleigh and east of Greensboro. The estimated population is 251,893 (2014). Durham is the county seat of Durham County and part of the Durham-Chapel Hill Metropolitan area. Durham is the home to prestigious Duke University which was ranked eighth by U.S. News and World Report for Best National Universities. Duke University and the Duke University Health System are the largest employers in Durham with an estimated 34,863 employees.

The Duke University Hospital is ranked as the Best Hospital in both the Raleigh-Durham area and the entire state of North Carolina. The hospital is nationally recognized in 13 adult specialties and 10 children specialties. Within the 13 nationally ranked specialties, Duke University Hospital ranks in the top ten for: ophthalmology (#6), pulmonology (#5), urology (#9) and cardiology & heart surgery (#5). In addition, the hospital is rated “high performing” in nine adult procedures/conditions.

WINSTON-SALEM

Winston-Salem which were once separate towns were merged into one in 1913. It is the county seat of Forsyth County and has an estimated population of 241,218 (2015). Historically Winston-Salem was associated with the tobacco and textile industries, but is quickly making becoming a leader in the nanotech, bio-tech and high-tech industries. The top three major industries by employment are health care & social assistance, trade, transportation & utilities and professional & business services. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is the largest employer with 11 750 employees. Novant Health is the second largest with 8,145 employees.

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is ranked third in the state for Best Hospitals and is nationally ranked in five adult specialties. Amongst the five specialties, the hospital ranks the highest in cancer (#19) and nephrology (#25). Wake Forest is also rated “high performing” in 9 adult procedures/conditions. The hospital is a Level 1 trauma enter which is staffed with an estimated 943 doctors and 2,321 nurses on staff.
