$35Our Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification online course is a convenient online option for busy healthcare professionals that are required to be trained and certified in pediatric advanced life support. The training course will help healthcare providers develop the knowledge and skills required to manage certain types of pediatric emergencies including respiratory and cardiovascular arrest. Although all pediatric healthcare professionals should be familiar with these interventions and guidelines, groups that are generally required to be certified are Emergency/Critical care doctors and nurses, emergency medical services, paramedics and first responders.
If you have already completed your ACLS training, please be aware that our training for certification is not the same as the ACLS. A child generally wouldn’t have the same type of life threatening emergency that an adult would, therefore, the approach to resuscitation of the child will be different. Our PALS certification course and learning materials, such as the pretest, were created by medical professionals using current emergency cardiac care (ECC) guidelines implemented by the American Heart Association (AHA). Course topics include: approach to pediatric assessment, effective resuscitation and respiratory management, pediatric treatment algorithms, basic life support, defibrillation skills. To better prepare each student for testing, study guide materials are provided in each course at no additional cost.
In 2015, the AHA released their 5-year guideline updates. The 2015 updates will be good until 2020. Our certification course will note changes to the guidelines, while our primary certification course will include the updates but not highlight them. Notable updates to the guidelines were:
*The aforementioned changes will be covered in more detail within our course materials and are just a snippet of the actual update. It is not meant to be used for the treatment of pediatric patients.
Start Your PALS Certification Online Class Today
Once you register for the certification course, a confirmation along with your login information will be sent to you. You can log into your account immediately to begin perusing your study guide materials which will be everything you need to prepare for the certification exam. Our fast certification course is generally completed in 90 minutes depending on your level of experience. There is no time limit, so we encourage individuals to take as much time as they need to review the information.
The certification exam is completed entirely online and is multiple choice. In order to earn your pediatric advanced life support certification, a passing score of 80% on the exam is required. If you don’t receive a passing score on your first attempt, you will have two extra attempts at receiving a passing score. The correct answers to the missed questions will not be revealed until a passing score is earned on the exam. It’s important that if you are unable to pass the exam on the first attempt, that you take the time to review all the pretest materials until you have a strong understanding of the skills required to employ pediatric advanced life support interventions.
Once you have successfully completed the certification exam, your digital certification provider card will be emailed to you. This is only a temporary card to be used for proof of certification until your hard copy arrives in the mail. Please allow 5-7 days for the hard copy of your provider card to arrive. If you need the hard copy sooner, we offer priority shipping for an additional cost.
PALS Recertification Online
Online training courses for recertification are provided to keep health professionals up-to-date with advances in pediatric resuscitation, as required every two years. We recommend renewing at least 30 days prior to your date of expiration in order to remain compliant with your organization or hospital. Our online courses for renewals follow the same procedure as our initial course, however, the most recent ECC guideline changes will be highlighted within the study guide materials to make renewal students aware of the changes.
We do not provide certification cards to students without a passing score on the renewal exam even if they have previously passed the initial certification exam. Recertification is required every two years to ensure that providers are current on all new guidelines. Replacement cards are only given to providers who have lost their cards and will include the original date of certification. Replacement cards that are ordered by individuals who have not completed the training course and exam will be immediately refunded.
