$35West Virginia is home to many mountainous and rural areas. This can be a problem if someone gets hurt and they need emergency intervention. Therefore, police are required to take a BLS training class and earn their BLS certifications, and why many civilians choose to get their certifications as well. By taking a BLS certification class, you’ll know how to stay calm and help someone who’s injured until other help arrives.
As anyone who works around children will tell you, an emergency involving kids is a much more high-stress situation when you compare it to an emergency with an adult. Many people want to ensure they know what to do in the event of an emergency. Therefore, they take a PALS training class and get their PALS certification. In West Virginia, school staff and coaches are required to have basic training and certifications. You can read more about this by clicking here.
Working professionals, especially those in the medical profession, understand they may not work traditional hours. This can make getting their required ACLS certification or completing their ACLS recertification program difficult. We understand this, which is why we’ve created a complete online training class. The online format means you can take the class at any time that is convenient for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
As this is the digital age, people have more access to things like health news. They’re quickly becoming more aware of the health issues the nation has. This has prompted many people to get their CPR online training and take an AED/First aid class. While these courses are more basic, they can help people feel secure that they’ll know what to do in the event of an emergency. They know that as they go about their daily lives if they were to see someone collapse, they could help until first responders arrived to take over.
If you want to earn your certifications because it makes you feel more comfortable, or if your job requires you to have a BLS certification or an ACLS certification, we can help you. Each of our exclusive certification classes follows the American Heart Association’s latest guidelines and we update our study materials when they update theirs every five years. As the last update was in 2015, you know you’re getting the most current information.
The first thing you need to do to earn your certifications is sign up for the correct certification class. If you need more than one certification, check our package deals. Once you’ve found the certification classes you need, sign up and pay the enrollment fee. This will give you immediate access to class study materials and the certification test. The courses have pretests available and the test features multiple choice and true/false questions.
You can study anywhere you have a steady internet connection and an internet-ready device, at any time of day or night, thanks to our convenient online format. Once you’ve taken time to study and you know the materials, you can attempt the certification exam. You can take your time as there is no time limit, and you get unlimited retakes.
When you take and pass your certification exam, you’ll get a temporary digital copy of your certification. You can print this out and keep it until your hard copy arrives in the mail within 3 to 5 days.
West Virginia is in the Appalachian region in the United States. This state is the tenth smallest state by total area and the thirty-eighth most populous state in the nation. The Union admitted West Virginia to statehood on June 20, 1863, and it became a key boarder state during the Civil War. The state has mountains, rolling hills, dense forests, and caves. It is known for its wide range of outdoor recreational activities from skiing to exploring caves to fishing and rock climbing.
The state of West Virginia has several prominent health problems that are prevalent throughout the state. Diabetes, hypertension, obesity-related cancer, heart disease, and respiratory diseases are common throughout the state. Approximately one in eight adults in West Virginia are cancer survivors, and West Virginia has the fourth highest diabetes rate in the United States. These health issues affect everyone from children to adults to seniors, with adults and seniors being the most at-risk demographic.
The largest city in West Virginia is also the state’s capital. Charleston had a population of 49,138 people as of 2016. In 1778, settlers built Fort Lee, and this is the first permanent settlement in the Charleston area. Natural gas and coal mining have been the backbone of Charleston’s economy for decades. This hasn’t changed today.
Diabetes is a huge problem in Charleston. Roughly one in every six adults over eighteen have diabetes or have pre-diabetes symptoms. If people with diabetes don’t monitor the condition carefully and have ongoing treatment, they could wind up with Diabetic Mellitus. This can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Recently, a woman suffered cardiac arrest while attending an AHA meeting in Charleston to learn about CPR. To read more, click here.
The second-largest city in West Virginia is Huntington, with a population of 48,133 people. In 1775, the railroad came through and founded Huntington. This historic city has a long history of commerce, shipping, and heavy industry. The port in this city is one of the busiest in the Nation, and it generates millions of dollars for the state each year.
The residents of this city have a high rate of heart disease. A lot of this can be traced back to their lifestyle. Factors such as a lack of exercise or a diet that is high in saturated fats and sugar lead to an increased risk of a stroke or other heart-related issues, like enlarged heart or hardened arteries. Because of these increased risk factors, West Virginia Schools now require all students to have CPR training before they graduate. To find out more, click here.
The third-largest city in the state of West Virginia is the city of Morgantown, with a population of 30,855 residents. Zackquill Morgan established a homestead in this area in 1773, and the town continued to grow until it became part of West Virginia in 1863. This smaller city gets a few thousand additional students from September through May thanks to the large college community that exists here.
Hypertension is the main problem with this city. Even though it has younger residents, there is also a large aging population. If someone has hypertension, they have an increased risk for more serious health problems. These health problems can become deadly if people don’t treat them.
A man overdosed recently in the Morgantown area and a stranger came to his aid. Find out more by clicking here.
The fourth-largest city in the state is Parkersburg. This city is home to 30,601 people. Alexander Parker founded this city in 1809 and the territory rechartered it as a city during 1860. The city has a long history of being involved in the textile industry. This tradition continues today. Parkersburg has several sports teams as well.
Obesity and obesity-related cancer are problems in Parkersburg. The state has a high obesity rate and cancer rate. It makes sense that the more people who are obese, the higher their risks are of developing obesity-related cancer. A lot of this goes back to lifestyles and personal choices. When a man collapsed to the floor and started turning blue, a bystander intervened. To find out what happened, click here.
The fifth-largest city is Wheeling with a population of 27,375 as of 2016. This city was West Virginia’s first state capital, and it has the nickname of “The Friendly City.” Ebenezer Zane divided the area into towns and established this city in 1795.
Wheeling is a center for transportation, which can result in higher pollution rates. These higher rates can irritate respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD, or lung disease. On bad days, people with these chronic conditions should stay indoors and take precautions when they go out.
